dawn patrolling sb.

Allen’s been busy this winter messing with his new video camera… most days this season consisted of just messing around on the mellow rolling terrain at Steamboat.  Lots of groomer riding  and getting up early this year, here’s a little taste of one of our  late March surprise ‘pow’ dawn patrol sessions.

earning turns

the snow at the top of the glacier was a little bullet proof and variable, making a heel-carve indy a little more difficult than one would think – way to hang on al!

Allen and I took off from the boat for a weekend adventure near the front range.  We met up with a buddy from Denver and searched for a site just below Berthoud pass. Although we did not get much snow this winter, there was enough to prevent us from finding any dry ground to set up on. Setting up in the snow has its added challenges but with a couple of shovels and the motivation to keep warm, camp goes up pretty quickly.

The next morning, headed to St. Mary’s glacier to get some slushy spring turns in.  After summiting the glacier and riding the face, Allen and I set up in the sun for some log-jib laps.  Definitely a great weekend with plenty of good times and memories to pass around.

enjoying a break at the top of the glacier on some dry ground.
