Cycles

Aside from photography, cycling and building bikes is another passion of mine.  Lucky for me, I am able to shoot the project once it’s finished to share with everyone else.

Caloi s/s beach cruiser

The bike that started my obsession. Beginning as a gloss frame with no fenders and knobbed mountain bike tires, this cruiser evolved into a flat black rat rod; fully kitted with white wall ballooners, chrome fenders and red rims, along with some fancy pin striping and dice accents.

Raleigh Rapide’

This bike was my second fg build and started as a 10 speed roadie. The bike was pulled apart and then rebuilt with newer, lighter parts. Not long after the gold wheels were fitted, the bike was stolen… krooked.

Early 80’s Raleigh Technium

This bike remained geared… all 10 speeds! The Technium was one of Raleigh’s first aluminum frame bikes.  With aluminum tubing bonded into steel lugs, internal top tube cable routing, and downtube shifters, this bike screams early 80’s racer.  This summer the bike has seen some serious miles and continues to ride solid every time.

1978 Raleigh Grand Prix

The Grand Prix was bought to replace the stolen Rapide’.  Also beginning as a 10 speed touring bike, the Grand Prix was pulled apart and rebuilt with newer and lighter parts.  Once stripped, the cromo frame ended up being lighter than the Rapide’s steel frame, making it the perfect FG candidate.  The bike currently sits on Velocity deep-v wheels laced to some buttery smooth All City Hubs.  The front wheel is radial laced while the rear is a modified crows feet lacing pattern, hand built by Jeff Stone.

2010 Trek Session 8

This is the rig I had the pleasure of riding this summer.  An early injury shut the season down for just about a month, but the remainder of the season was ridden on this bike.  Trek has their dh design dialed in with the Session line and the bike was a true Keystone Killer!
